Layer It On: Carnegie’s Polyethylene Wall-Coverings
Decades after developing Xorel, Carnegie keeps pushing the potential of this proprietary polyethylene, first used for fabrics. Its latest incarnation is Xorel Graphic, a group of wall coverings produced via a combination of digital printing and jacquard weaving. While not new to the textile realm, digital printing is generally limited to treatments in which the textile is simply the medium for printed patterns or images. With Xorel Graphic, transparent yarn is woven on top of printed colors. This creates dimensional nuances, as each pattern reveals a different aesthetic possibility of the process. Or not quite finally. Digital printing makes almost any custom pattern possible. 800-727-6770; carnegiefabrics.com.
