MoMA X Vans Versus Lego X Adidas
In a battle of four design titans over fashionable footwear supremacy, MoMA has released a two-part line with their fellow Americans at Vans, while Denmark’s LEGO has joined forces with Germany’s Adidas for the first release in a multiyear partnership.
Vans and MoMA came together to debut a two-part series of footwear, apparel, and accessories, all featuring art chosen by the SoCal company from the museum’s collection, including works by Salvador Dalí, Vasily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Jackson Pollock, Lyubov Popova, and Faith Ringgold.
And for the next installment in its annual A-ZX series, Adidas Originals teamed up with the LEGO Group for a playful take on the ZX8000 silhouette, bringing its instantly recognizable aesthetics to an Adidas archival icon.
Designed as an ode to the classic LEGO brick, the ZX8000 is comprised of a multicolor mesh and synthetic suede upper with a rubber outsole. The shoe features LEGO studs on the heels as well as co-branded tongue tabs. Rounding out the look are co-branded yellow sock liners, six different colored lace options, and interchangeable LEGO brick lace jewels.
