New Kicks from Knoll x Vans OTW
When Florence Knoll founded
KnollTextiles
in 1947, the idea was to modernize textiles. Twenty years later,
Vans
changed the feet of the fashionable forever, with their innovative, relaxed sneakers. Now the two iconic companies have joined forces for the
Knoll x Vans OTW Collection Capsule
.
Vans has reinterpreted three iconic styles for the collection, slimming and narrowing the Alomar into the cuptoe Alcon, reinvigorating their mid-top look for the cap-toe Piercy, and updating the legendary Wino into the stitch-down cupsole Ludlow. Then they looked to KnollTextiles’ menswear-inspired fabrics, settling on creative director Dorothy Cosonas’s contemporary favorite Cross Stitch. The wool-nylon blend references a men’s windowpane plaid, with a soft hand tailor-made for sneakers.
“Each brand,” explains Cosonas, “has a unique point of view, routed in cutting-edge design and classic modernism.” With colorways from graphite to butternut, this collaboration has started on good footing.
