Serious Play: Dollhouse Auction at Bonhams
What results when world-renowned architects create something with children in mind? The London auction house Bonhams just presented “A Dolls’ House” with 20 toy abodes by the likes of Adjaye Associates. Since proceeds went to Kids, a charity that supports disabled children, each house was required to include a feature that, in real life, would make daily routines easier for those with physical or mental challenges. The dollhouse by Zaha Hadid Architects went for the highest bid, $22,500, and the auction overall raised $145,000.
