10 Editors’ Picks From Interior Design’s November Edition of LAUNCH
Pink and blue hues caught the attention of our editors in Interior Design‘s November edition of LAUNCH.
1. Penrose by La Chance
Mathematician Roger Penrose’s “impossible triangle” research inspired Berlin-based designer Hayo Gebauer’s dining table, its geometric legs overlapping and blending to appear entirely different depending on the viewing angle.
Standouts: The solid ash mortise-
and-tenon base is available in soft two-tone stain combinations like orange/pale, pink/dark blue, and black/brown/white. The neon face is available in clear glass, too.
2. Stacks Denim by Another Human
Designer Leah Ring’s bench, an interpretation of meditation cushions, was originally outfitted in elegant velvet, but a casual reverse-jean version offers a flexible perch for urban living.
Standouts: Fabricated in Los Angeles, the cushions are sold as a set of five, with the bright, contrasting color welts available for custom order.
3. Fearless Living by Limited Edition
All eyes are on Belgian interior designer Jean-Philippe Demeyer’s ovoid rug, its Surrealist, watchful symbols purporting to offer protection against evil, misfortune, and fear.
Standouts: Made as a broadloom or area rug, the 75.5% wool, 24.5% silk carpets are available in three colorways: cloud blue, pistachio, and silver pink.
4. Santa Maria Dei Clarici by Cobra Studios
A postmodern resin coffee table by the Brussels-based studio of Kenny Decommer and Hugues Delaunay abstracts classical Roman architectural forms into shapely supports that pierce the silk-gray tabletop.
Standouts: The entire collection includes dining, coffee, and side tables plus a floor lamp. Bespoke leg colors are available for the tables.
5. Jardin de Rocaille N°5 and N°1 by Maison Dada
A five-piece rug collection by Thomas Dariel, cofounder of the five-year-old brand, reinterprets French artist Clément Vuillier’s illustrations of an imaginary garden.
Standouts: Hand tufted from a 60 percent wool, 40 percent silk blend, the carpets are completed with a cotton backing.
6. Grill by Diabla
The brainchild of MUT Design Studio’s Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón, this sculptural outdoor seating in super-lightweight welded aluminum mimics the clean lines of traditional iron grills.
Standouts: The thermo-lacquered aluminum-tube frames, available in 10 colors, are stackable as side chairs, bar stools, and armchairs.
7. Rainbow Bubbly by Rosie Li Studio
Soap bubbles and botryoidal hematite inspired a lighting collection including this clustered ceiling fixture in a colorful PVD spectra finish that renders each piece unique
Standouts: Available in sconce, chandelier, and table and floor lamp versions, the PYD-finish brass used on Rainbow Bubbly is part of an organic finishing process.
8. Fan by Atelier Tobia Zambotti
Sports fans will rejoice at the opportunity to take home a repurposed former stadium seat paired with a slender powder-coated metal frame by the multidisciplinary Icelandic designer.
Standouts: The four styles and structures of the upcycled seats are originally from Reykjavík’s Laugardalsvöllur Stadium, available in a variety of color combinations and seat heights.
9. Paris Tiles by Studio Four NYC
A floor-tile pattern that brand cofounder Stacy Waggoner glimpsed on a visit to a Paris flea market sparked a far-out rug produced in a riot of hues.
Standouts: The hand tufted, 100 percent wool semi-worsted tiles come in custom colors and structures.
10. Bermuda by Baleri Italia
A generous, ergonomic seat beckons bottoms to a triangular lounge (supported by a T-shape three-leg base) from the top minds of Swedish firm Claesson Koivisto Rune.
Standouts: Constructed from either a lacquered-metal or solid-wood frame, low arms allow for multiple seating positions with a myriad of upholstery options of the removable seat cushions adding extra versatility to the chairs.
