Take Flight: Kites Shape A Sculptural Lighting Collection
Childhood memories are often the source of a major creative spark. For Michael Anastassiades, it was the making and flying of kites that led to Cygnet, a series of sculptural fixtures he debuted during Milan Design Week. The new work builds on his previous collection of equilibrium-themed fixtures: Each unit consists of two equilateral paper triangles—illuminated by a hidden light source—that seem to float in midair. Available in two sizes (24 and 35 inches long) and multiple configurations, Cygnet acts as both a light source and a spatial composition. The Cypriot designer also showed a custom Floor Mobile Chandelier, a set of illuminated globes upheld by an impossibly thin, curved brass armature (in a patinated Prussian-blue hue) with tripod base.
