Slash Objects Makes Waste Useful in a Pill-Shaped Table

Architect Arielle Assouline-Lichten—an alum of Bjarke Ingels Group, Kengo Kuma & Associates, and Snøhetta—founded Slash Objects to “change the notion of recycled products.” In her enterprising hands, waste becomes beautiful and useful, part of the circular economy. Take the pill-shape Capsule side table: Its cast-concrete form, inlaid with brass, is wrapped in pure black or flecked postconsumer-recycled rubber. “I wanted Capsule to feel like an elegant sidekick,” Assouline-Lichten notes. “An enhancement for any room, it can sidle up to another favorite piece of furniture.” The larger of the two standard sizes is 20 inches high, 23 wide, and 10 deep but all measurements, as well as materials and finishes, are customizable. An optional built-in electrical outlet on the tabletop boosts WFH (or, rather, work-from-couch…) functionality.
