4 Luxury Retail Environments Immerse Buyers in Fantasy

Accessories and apparel are all the more appealing in immersive environments.

1. Firm: Kengo Kuma
& Associates

Project: Valextra

Site: Milan, Italy

Standout: Like a forest of luxury leather handbags, 135 floor-to-ceiling planks of saw-cut Tunisian cedar, its bark left intact, infuse the environment with the wood’s natural scent.

2. Firm: Sybarite

Project: Joseph

Site: Miami, Florida

Standout: The geometry typical of the upscale clothing store’s more than 50 locations is paired with a painted steel staircase that nods to the city’s mid-century curvilinear architecture.

3. Firm: One Plus
Partnership Limited

Project: Chow Tai Fook

Site: Hong Kong

Standout: Bedecking the jewelry boutique in 1,070 boxes of glass or powder-coated steel or wrapped in velvet is like being surrounded by gifts—and celebrates the launch of a young adult line.

4. Firm: Atelier Tree

Project: Poppee

Site: Beijing, China

Standout: A cloud of powder-coated iron mesh inspired by crepuscular rays filters into gold-plated stainless-steel rods, which support acrylic boxes displaying jewelry at eye level.
