As Senior Director of Experiential Design at IA Interior Architects, Julie Maggos is a nationally recognized leader shaping how people connect with space. With nearly 25 years in the industry, she has spent the last 14 establishing and growing IA’s Experiential Design service into a fully integrated offering across the firm’s global studios. Her strategic vision has influenced hundreds of projects and transformed how clients across sectors express their values and engage users. This list of transformational projects includes work for notable clients such as McDonald’s, United Airlines, LinkedIn, TIAA, and Bank of America, among many others. Julie sits on IA’s Executive Committee, helping guide the direction of the 600-person firm. A mentor and visionary, she has nurtured the growth of dozens of emerging designers and continues to champion a practice rooted in clarity, curiosity, and empathy. Julie was instrumental in developing and advancing IA’s annual Experiential Design week, and related internal and external events. She also co-leads AIRIA (AI Research at IA), a practice group advancing the firm’s responsible and creative adoption of artificial intelligence. A consistent voice in the industry, Julie has contributed to numerous blog posts, whitepapers, videos, and webinars, and has served as a juror for design competitions. Her work and perspective have been featured in Interior Design Magazine and other national publications, reinforcing her role as both a practitioner and thought leader in experiential design. She previously served as Co-Chair of the Chicago chapter of SEGD for six years, deepening the regional design community through cross-disciplinary collaboration. She’s also spoken at major industry events, including NeoCon, IIDEX, SEGD, and CoreNet. Julie’s influence lives in the spaces she helps shape and the people she inspires. Through every challenge, she continues to expand the impact and definition of experiential design.
