Call for Projects: 2018 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition

Has tile been a prominent feature in your recent projects? Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Agency proudly announce the 2018 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition call for entries. Celebrating its 25th year, the competition recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian tiles in their projects. In a new initiative this year, Ceramics of Italy is also looking for imaginative concepts from students.

We know that as architects and designers, you are constantly looking for new materials to make your visions a reality. Italian tile’s recent strides in technology has made the product more versatile than ever. From large porcelain slabs to ultra thin ceramics to antimicrobial tiles, tile can be used in unconventional spaces as outdoor pavers, exterior cladding, and countertops, just to name a few. If you’ve used Italian ceramic or porcelain tile in a residential, commercial or institutional project in the past five years, your project is eligible to submit!

The winning architect/designer in each category will receive a cash prize of $3,000 and a trip to present their project at Coverings (May 8-11, 2018). The prize package also includes a five-day CEU-accredited trip to Bologna, Italy to attend CERSAIE 2018 (September 24-28, 2018)—the world’s largest exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings—with a delegation of top consumer and design journalists. A $1,000 prize will be awarded to the winning tile contractor/distributor team in each category. The winning student entry will receive a trip to Atlanta to present the project at Coverings in front of a large audience of journalists, manufacturers, and tile industry professionals.

The competition is free to enter and multiple submissions are permitted. The deadline for entries is February 15, 2018. For more information, please visit the official competition website: www.tilecompetition.com.
