Cassina Toasts 90 Years With Reissue of 4 Classics

In 1927, brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina envisioned a brand inspired by traditional craftsmanship, driven by technical innovation, and fueled by contemporary designers. Now guided by art director and Interior Design Hall of Fame member Patricia Urquiola, the company that always looks ahead reflects on its 90th anniversary with a glance in the rearview mirror, and the reissue of four Cassina classics.
 

LC Casiers Standard, an oak storage system by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand from 1925, is updated with new finishes and colors. The trio’s LC1 Pampas armchair and LC4 Pampas chaise longue from 1928 resurface in limited editions of 400, the steel frames mated with South American hides. Gio Ponti’s 699 Superleggera chair, continuously produced since 1957, spawns a special edition in Studio Bertjan Pot’s custom Boxblocks rayon-polyamide. And Mario Bellini’s 932 armchair, essentially four independent cushions bound with fabric or leather belt, returns from the ’60’s with renewed proportions and engineering.
