Karim Rashid Designs Desert Boots for Sully Wong

Rashid’s Kromo pattern is printed on a white leather upper, with white heel tab, silver eyelets, and white leather laces.

Karim Rashid

has materialized his famously organic, fluid aesthetic in everything from trashcans to Greek hotels to corporate identities, amassing dozens of awards along the way. The design maven’s latest undertaking is the limited-edition Karim for

Sully Wong

Desert Boot, debuting at FN Platform at

Magic Market Week

in Las Vegas, August 19-21.

“I have always loved the simplicity of desert boots,” says Rashid of his new line of desert boots for Toronto-based Sully Wong. “I realized that there were none on the market made from leather that were interesting. So I made a minimal version, with very soft special printed leather and made them super comfortable, and highly crafted.”

Laser-etched logos on the tongue and custom air-embossed Karim for Sully Wong sole pads.

The premium leather shoes will feature four of Rashid’s most memorable patterns—Kromo, Kaos, Ikon, and Optik—available in eight colors including pinks, oranges, purples, and electric blues. “The patterns are based on my belief in the new ornamentation I call digipop,” Rashid says.

Look for them in Spring 2014, but given Rashid’s endless, globetrotting fan base, it might be smart to pre-order.

The Karim for Sully Wong line will be available in spring 2014.
