Behind The Curtain: Step Into Hollywood’s Greenroom On Oscars Night
Movie making’s big night—the Academy Awards, held Sunday March 15, 2026—is almost upon us. Invitees watch the ceremony and participate in the glamour at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre while cinephiles watch the event, this year’s 98th installment hosted by Conan O’Brien, from the comfort of home. Nominees wait it out in time-honored tradition in the Oscars 2026 Greenroom, sponsored for the last 10 years by Rolex, premier crafter of luxury timepieces, ever objects of envy. Marking a double commemoration this year, Rolex celebrates the 100th anniversary of its iconic Oyster, the world’s first waterproof watch.
Figuratively and literally, the 2026 Greenroom is just that. As created by the Rolex team, the setting’s two connected rooms sport the rich verdé shade—think emeralds—as their dominant design element. Suitably, gold is the second chromatic component, glamming and sparking up the palette. For all its heady connotations, though, the color combo is also the brand’s colors, making the sotto voce connection in the same subtle manner that wearing a Rolex signals taste and appreciation of excellence. Furniture was custom-designed in-house for the space.
Accessories come by way of a yellow gold Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, safely mounted in a display case, and portraits of past honorees (James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Sidney Poitier, among them) give new meaning to the term star-gazing. Meanwhile, the biggest star of all stands in its customary post at the entry. Oscar, the same 8-foot-tall statue, comes courtesy of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Now for the envelopes, please.
