Pedro Riaza, Former General Secretary of the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association, Dies
Pedro Riaza, former general secretary of the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association, recently passed away. A well-respected leader in the industry, Riaza left an indelible mark on the global tile sector though his 25-year tenure at ASCER.
Taking on the role of general secretariat in the 1990s, Riaza advised a half a dozen presidents of the association during his career before retiring in 2019.
Known for his adept decision-making abilities and calm yet resolute manner of managing challenges for companies big and small, Riaza’s leadership helped to resolve industry disputes in Spain and throughout Europe. He also championed sustainable design initiatives, advancing the use of energy efficient processes such as cogeneration. “His passion, expertise and guidance over the years has left its impact and a solid legacy to continue to build upon for future generations,” recall colleagues at Tile of Spain.
