Persian Carpet Importer Golran Unveils Meteo, a Collaboration with Designer Inga Sempé

Founded in 1898 in Mashad—a city on the border of Iran and Turkmenistan—Persian carpet importer Golran relocated to Milan in 1968. In recent years, the family-owned company has stepped squarely into the contemporary arena, introducing groundbreaking designs by Raw-Edges Design Studio, Isabella Sodi, and Bertjan Pot. One of its newest releases, Meteo, a collaboration with French design darling Inga Sempé, puts her mastery of color to good use. Individually hued threads of silk and wool are tufted in a pointillist fashion to create the impression of a large mosaic, resulting in clouds of evanescent hues. The collection, a modern reinterpretation of classic Persian carpet making, consists of three designs: Halo, Mirage, and Tumulte.
