Best Gumbo Ever: Day 2 at #IDHospitalityGiants
A packed second day of Interior Design‘s third annual Giants of Hospitality Design conference, held this year in New Orleans, meant an inspiring tour of Mardi Gras floats at Blaine Kern Studios & Mardi Gras World—following the morning’s talks by Barry Kern himself, Jeffrey Schwartz of Broad Community Connections?, Zach Kupperman of Dinner Lab, and ?John Besh of Besh Restaurant Group. Besh also welcomed attendees to his restaurant Domenica for an over-the-top luncheon before afternoon tours began to the city’s historic French Quarter, Garden District, New Orleans Museum of Art Sculpture Garden, and Warehouse District.
Cocktail hour was held at the charmingly creepy New Orleans Pharmacy Museum before attendees were bused to a surprise location for the event’s cherry on top—a meal by Kupperman’s Dinner Lab, which creates pop-up dining experiences to pair undiscovered chefs with exciting locations. Case in point, Monday’s unforgettable dinner was held at Felicity Church, an 1840’s structure receiving ongoing restorations by its owners, who live in the rectory (we can’t blame them for never wanting to leave). New Orleans has made it almost too easy to delight designers’ eyes, minds and taste buds. See you next year, Giants!
