Giants Celebrates 40th Year With Rainbow Room Lunch
Interior Design‘s Giants program is celebrating the big 4-0 in 2017. The birthday year kicked off with a conference in Mexico in March, and continued this month with a luncheon in New York City for representatives of the Top 100 Giants. The gathering was hosted at the historic Rainbow Room, an appropriate setting to toast the four decades of Giants and the influential design firms that are a part of it. (The Rainbow Room, which was featured in Interior Design, reopened in 2014 after extensive renovations by Gabellini Sheppard.)
In her introduction, editor in chief Cindy Allen divulged the birthdays of many of the firms in the room, starting with SmithGroupJJR (soon to turn 165) and ending with a group of what she joked were “Millennial” firms (all under 35). She also shared fun facts about the companies. For instance—did you know that 11 out of IA Interior Architects’ 19 offices are run by women?
The milestone year is also a major one for Interior Design, which just turned 85. All the more reason to keep the celebrations going.
Many thanks to our event sponsors: Steelcase, Florim, Turner Construction, Humanscale, Herman Miller, and Clarus Glassboards.
