Over 400 Celebrate the Idea Lab Carpet Art Benefit
Interior Design celebrated several worthy causes last night at the Interface showroom in New York. More than 400 members of the A&D community came out to support Idea Lab 2012: Carpet Art Benefit, which raised nearly $16,000 with the remaining unsold pieces to be auctioned off at a later date.
Sculptures, drawings, photographs, books, lamps, chairs, and more were on display during the evening, with all 33 works put on the auction block to benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen, who is co-chairman of the DIFFA board, helped to organize and host the event, which was sponsored by Interface.
Allen teamed up with Interface to invite select designers and artists to design the Carpet Art using, among other items, Interface carpet tiles and other raw materials from an “idea box.” Look for complete coverage of the designers and their pieces in next week’s Designwire newsletter.
