Stone Source Celebrates Tierras by Patricia Urquiola
Despite the hustle and bustle of recent Archtober events in New York,
Stone Source
drew a crowd of designers and architects last week to its NYC showroom. The headliner was
Interior Design
Hall of Fame member
Patricia Urquiola
, who introduced her new Tierras collection produced by
Mutina
and available through Stone Source.
Interior Design
editor in chief Cindy Allen was on hand to interview Urquiola, honing in on the line’s roots in Italian tradition, juxtaposed with technological innovation. Awash in beautiful sunburnt glazes and finishes recalling sand and packed earth, Tierras was inspired by the process of sedimentation as well as aritsanal craftsmanship in the Mediterranean. Yet its geometric, 3-D bricks in extruded terracotta are surely the building blocks of the future.
