Top Designers Gather at Spain’s Great Match for Wine & Design
Last night, Interior Design and Interiors from Spain hosted the seventh annual Wine & Design, held at Frank Gehry’s iconic IAC Building in New York. The evening was divided into two events—an exclusive wine and food tasting began at 5:30, and then the party got into full swing at Spain’s Great Match beginning at 7:00. Attendees were treated to three rosés and two wildly different reds that came from Spain’s famed wine country and the Canary Islands. Sommelier Leslie Sbrocco provided info and insights into Spain’s oenophilic history. Wine was served on a custom Vondom bar while Bover lamps illuminated the VIP tent.
There were over 80 attendees, including Bruno Fernández Scrimieri, the Trade Commission of Spain’s newly appointed commissioner. Top designers such as Will Meyer of Meyer Davis, Interior Design Hall of Fame member Paul Siskin of Siskin Valls, Jayne and Joan Michaels of 2Michaels, and Brent Capron of Perkins+Will also joined the festivities. Michelin star chef Toño Perez Atrio provided a menu of Crunchy Empanadilla stuffed with artisanal Spanish “Pasaje”, Heirloom tomato soup, curry and cumin alioli-soaked bread crumbs with chorizo Ibérico, smoked potato foam, black pudding ganache with Aire de Moscatel Sherry Vinegar (Vinagre de Jerez PDO).
