Cooler Gallery and Concrete Collaborative Team Up on Trippy Tile Series
Brooklyn-based Cooler Gallery teamed with encaustic specialist Concrete Collaborative to realize an artist-designed tile series, featuring trippy omni-directional patterns by 14 talents. Object & Totem’s Julianne Ahn conceived the retro-inflected Op-Eye Grid, the modules combining to form a geometric lattice overlaid with bullseye-like concentric circles. Pastel hues soften the textile maven Aelfie Oudghiri’s Djerba, a sharp, architeconic pattern that conveys an au courant edge. Ceramicist Josephine Heilpern
of Recreation Center created Memphis-esque Movi, which can be arrayed in numerous ways to form compositions that lean from Art Deco to Pop Art. And with Core, sculptor and Brooklyn Home Company artist-in-residence Fitzhugh Karol sketches out an uber-elemental motif in colorway ivory white/celano.
