Brielle Rovito Designs A Sculptural Pendant Light For Maison Bodega

Dust + Form, the name of Brielle Rovito’s art/design studio reflects her “dirty, physical” process, creating molds and forms in glass and clay that she scrapes at and refines until she is satisfied with the result. Such labor fuels the DF Bodega fixture, which is equal parts sculpture and lighting. Creating the milk-white porcelain pendant, its smooth, slip-cast curves sanded to a velvety finish, “challenged and allowed me to collaborate with some incredible craftspeople here in Vermont,” says Rovito, who’s based in the Green Mountain State. The handmade piece was commissioned by creative director and stylist Liz Gardner to illuminate the century-old Minneapolis building she rehabbed into her live-work-salon space, Maison Bodega, where it’s also being sold in an artist’s edition of 10—thoughtfully provided to the customer with cotton gloves for installation and a goat-hair dust brush for cleaning.
