Formica Corporation Introduces Italian-Designed Surfaces to North American Market
Surfaces are integral to every interior, from countertops to tables and wallcoverings. There’s no question each texture and color shapes the aesthetic of a space. But innovative products made with rich pigments and sustainable, easy-to-clean materials often are hard to come by or carry long lead times, especially when it comes to specifying from companies overseas—that is, until now.
This spring, Formica Corporation expanded its line of durable surfacing solutions by signing on to distribute sister company Arpa Industriale’s line of Italian-designed surfaces, FENIX®, in North America. The award-winning collection, available in 16 colors reflective of those found in nature, embodies Italian design traditions given its tactile qualities, rich hues, and durable materials, which make the surfaces suitable for commercial and residential interiors alike. “Since its launch, FENIX materials are recognized for adding value to the interior design world. The partnership with Formica Corporation will allow our successful FENIX brand to further reach architects and designers in North America through their well-established distribution network,” said Stefano Mion, CEO of Arpa Industriale.
The FENIX NTM® collection, the first of its kind available through Formica Corporation, features color that seeps all the way through, enabling designers to chose from a luxurious variety of shades, such as Verde Comodoro and Bianco Alaska. To achieve complete and lasting color saturation, the design team creates each surface using a multilayer pigment-coating process and proprietary next-generation acrylic resins that are hardened and fixed through an Electron Beam curing process. The results produce surface solutions with low light-reflectivity, creating an opaque finish that remains soft to the touch and resists fingerprints—an ideal solution for designers looking to elevate any interior from healthcare environments to residential kitchen and baths with classic, cleanable forms built to withstand the test of time.
