Jacobsroom’s Latest Chaise References the Pools of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Turkey
The latest from the Rome-based Jacobsroom, the O chaise—an extension of the same-named furniture collection—has an architectural bearing and a natural inspiration: the terraced thermal pools of Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in western Turkey. (The landmark’s name translates to “cotton castle,” a nod to the sugar-spun travertine hillside.)
The seat’s curved, stacked waterfall-style backrest is “evocative of the dreamlike lagoons found there, their astonishing circular silhouettes and hues of sand and brine,” brand designer Kathrin Charlotte Bohr notes. The limited-edition piece, with recycled-wood frame, is shown here with beech-clad feet and a suedelike ecological fabric upholstery, but complete customization is also possible.
