Turn Heads With This Artisan Rug Collection
Layered, the Stockholm-based interior design brand, founded in 2015 by Malin Glemme, has turned heads with its cross-pollination of bold and modern elements and a focus on craftsmanship and sustainability. The company’s latest collection is inspired by and named for traditional Röllakan rugs, whose geometric and stylized patterns, often inspired by plant and animal motifs, were historically woven at home by women. For this contemporary reboot, a reflection of Swedish nature and folk art, the design team chose a palette that’s rich and intense: deep red, blue, yellow, dark ochre, and forest green plus undyed black and white details. The originals were typically passed down as heirlooms, and these fresh interpretations are sure to follow suit.
