Inside-Out Seating By Faye Toogood
What would a sofa look like if it were turned inside out, akin to a sweater pulled off the body? British designer Faye Toogood conjures that scenario with Crease, which takes a topsy-turvy approach to seating by starting with the cover. Loosely folded and puckered wool upholstery inspired by origami and flat-pack boxes swaddles the frame. Highlighting the edges of the cream-toned textile sections are cerise slot seams, a decorative technique used on clothing whereby two fabric panels are joined from behind by a contrasting textile rather than directly to each other. Other colorways and monotone versions sans contrasting contours are also on offer for the seating, which is available as an armchair or a two- or three-seat sofa. meritalia.it/en
