Pierre Frey Launches Verso Furniture Line Codesigned With David/Nicolas
Ah, the golden age of travel. The great transatlantic liners of the 1930s through ’50s were sumptuous indeed. Some were decorated by René Prou, father-in-law of Pierre Frey‘s founder. To pay homage to the family ancestor, new furniture artistic director Sam Baron launches Verso, a collection codesigned with David Raffoul and Nicolas Moussallem of Beirut studio David/Nicolas. The pair reinterpreted Prou’s elegant space-saving tropes in, for instance, a slipper lounge chair with integrated bookcase and a low ottoman topped by a tablet. Both are made of solid oak engraved with fine grooves and feature either mohair velvet or fabric designed by Prou that’s been reissued for the occasion. Also on offer are the Versus bronzed-glass pedestal tables and multimedia folding screen with shelf, all in stained, varnished oak.
