Cartelle Design Creates Cozy Drama in a Compact Moscow Apartment
When a young woman came to Moscow’s Cartelle Design to conceive interiors for her 430-square-foot apartment, founders Denis Krasikov and Anastasiia Struchkova knew they should keep things simple. They also knew that didn’t mean things had to be dull.
“Beams on the high ceilings and a panoramic window gave the space a special mood,” says Struchkova, “so we decided to use a minimum of partitions. We cut a large loft window on the wall between the rooms to let in light and visually connect the two spaces.”
As for décor, Krasikov notes, “there are only a few black and white posters and decorative pillows on the windowsill,” along with new custom shelving for the client’s library. “The main element is a poster of a panda, which adds charm and informality.” It hangs near the true focal point of the space: a bright yellow four-poster bed, a bit of sunlight in all the coziness.
