Daria Vasilkova Immortalizes Children’s Artwork in Furniture for a Cheery Moscow Apartment
Daria Vasilkova, owner and head of the firm Art Group, has been creating personalized interior projects for clients throughout Russia and beyond for over a decade. But when a couple approached her to design their 732-square-foot apartment in a new residential complex in the historical center of Moscow, she knew she had to do something more personal than ever.
The result is a space blending her own designs—bold, graphic tile manufactured with her own patterns in the south of Italy, and furnishings by her brand REDA by Vasilkova—with those of the her clients’ children. “They have spinal muscle atrophy,” Vasilkova explains, and also artistic temperaments which led them to create the artwork she captured on tiles which clad a pair of custom dressers, so they will feel right at home. And they’re not the only artists present. “Their work goes perfectly with the contemporary naïve art of Moscow artist Yakov Khomich,” she says. “It’s brought positive vibes to the whole atmosphere.”
