Dimorestudio Reinterprets Classic Persian Carpet for Golran

Paralleli series of rugs by Dimorestudio for Golran.

In search of designers to  reinterpret classic Persian carpets in a contemporary vernacular, Golran art director Francesca Avossa turned to Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, partners in Milan-based Dimorestudio, whose attention to detail borders on the obsessive. Not surprisingly, their Paralleli series of rugs appears to leave no era, culture, or tradition untapped as a source of inspiration. Baroque embroideries, indigenous Indian patterns, formal Ottoman-esque florals, and other decorative styles are referenced, punctuated with metallic inserts and modern graphic elements. In the end, the vertical collages resemble abstract art, as appropriate for the wall as for the floor. Hand knotted in Nepal from a blend of wool, silk, and metal, the rugs come in three standard sizes, in addition to custom.
