Imaginations Take Off: Young Designers’ Dream Displays for Selfridges
Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, and the like get plenty of play at Selfridges & Co., but once a year the department store devotes the front windows at its London flagship to the fantastical vignettes of “Bright Young Things.” This time, it was deputy chairman Alannah Weston who chose the participants, all recent graduates or newly established professionals from the disciplines of fashion, set design, art, or food. Inside, on the ground level, a pop-up concept store sold the 15 designers’ wares, from crocheted necklaces and neoprene dresses to candlesticks and briefcases.
