Rooftop Bars: Enjoy a 360-Degree View of NYC from Fleur Room at the Moxy Chelsea
The Fleur Room is one of the most aesthetically-pleasing perches from which one can take in views of most of New York City’s major landmarks. The 360 degrees of visibility from the 35th-story lounge puts the World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building right into the sight lines of guests.
Still fairly new to the neighborhood, the Fleur Room opened in March 2019 as part of the Moxy Chelsea hotel. The jewel of a space is the result of a collaboration between Rockwell Group and TAO Group—two of Manhattan’s biggest names in design and hospitality, respectively. Two hallmarks of the lounge’s north side include a glittering disco ball with a previous life in the 80s as part of the exclusive Los Angeles club Vertigo. The other is the retractable windows—the top three panes from the ceiling retract to create an aerie-veranda hybrid.
The floral theme of the decor continues through the south side of the Fleur Room, which includes a stunning copper bar. Artful floral motifs also have a prominent place in the upholstery of the lounge’s ample seating and in the floral arrangements curated by Putnam & Putnam. Industrial elements, such as the bar and hints of exposed concrete and ductwork, adds a bit of grit that complements the glamour of the space.
If there’s one way to take in the beauty of Manhattan’s flower district in the company of impeccable design, this is it.
