A Dental Clinic In Turkey That Doubles As A Design Destination
2025 Best of Year Winner for Health + Wellness
Dentists’ offices often strike fear in the hearts of patients, so the concept behind the Smiles Premium Dental Clinic in Ankara, Turkey, was to make it feel less like a medical facility and more like a cultural destination. Wangan Studio achieved this by eschewing cold, sterile materials in favor of more dramatic and inviting surfaces such as black oak and veiny red stone that convey the vibe of a hospitality venue or private club—while still meeting the rigorous performance demands that the location required. In addition to exhibiting a rotating lineup of artwork, the 1,100-square-foot interior itself presents as a series of abstract compositions and sculptural moves. It’s a place unlike anywhere else—and a model for the future of dental care.
