Thiel Architecture + Design Integrates Client’s Creative Collection Into the NYC Office of Collins
Every client brings their own personality and preferences to a project. For the New York office of Collins, chief creative officer and co-founder Brian Collins also brought a sizable collection of books, vintage toys, and furnishings. From oversize comic strips to a scale model of a Holiday Inn, unique objects were carefully integrated into the workspace by Thiel Architecture + Design. A central library adjacent to reception was created to house collectibles and thousands of volumes on design, architecture, poetry, science fiction, and other subjects. “We created a space that became the heart of the office, encouraging creativity and inspiring their work,” founder and principal Nancy Thiel says. The library’s outside wall is sheathed in fiberboard to allow employees to pin up inspiration and ideas. Pops of color, from hot pink to bright yellow, also foster creativity throughout the office.
