With over 20 years of experience, Sheri brings a deep commitment to environmental conservation, community engagement, and female empowerment in the design industry. Her dedication to rigorous design standards and service to both the Chicago community and our internal firm culture make her a true leader. Sheri co-chairs AIA Chicago’s Practice Management Knowledge Community, supporting the professional development of hundreds of members. As a long-time member of CREW Chicago, she led the CREW Careers program, which introduces teenage girls to careers in commercial real estate. Partnering with Off the Street Club, she organized site visits and design charrettes to showcase industry diversity. At VDT, Sheri founded and has led the Culture Committee since 2016, fostering communication, connection, and inclusion across the firm. She actively mentors aspiring architects—especially women—encouraging them to pursue their passions and ensuring all voices are heard. Sheri currently leads the building renovation and expansion for the Shedd Aquarium’s Centennial Commitment project, reflecting her passion for cultural institutions and conservation. Her humanitarian efforts include a bike shed project at the Ford Calumet Environmental Center, where she led the adaptive reuse of existing shipping containers—an affordable, sustainable solution aligned with the center’s values. Whether rehabilitating historical landmarks, mentoring high school students, or implementing community engagement efforts, Sheri has been a catalyst for positive change within the Architecture industry and the city of Chicago.
