2 NYC Agencies Get New Offices by BKSK Architects
The
New York City Department of Design and Construction
’s Design Excellence program continues to churn out, well, excellent projects. One of the latest is actually two by
BKSK Architects
inside TriBeCa’s historic Court Square Building. The firm won the commission to renovate 110,000 square feet across the seven floors housing the
Department for the Aging
and the
Department of Youth & Community Development
. Awash in violet, sky blue, and candy red, with bold graphics, reclaimed paneling, mid-century furniture, and contemporary lighting, the spaces read more creative than city agency. Following the Active Design guidelines, another DDC initiative, stairs are painted bumblebee yellow to encourage use. And, with increased daylight and thermal transfer rates, both offices are on track for LEED Gold certification.
