Over the weekend, the famous Frieze Art Fair took over Randall’s Island in New York City for its fifth consecutive year. Thousands of art-lovers sailed over from Manhattan to participate in the acclaimed celebration of creative excellence, viewing the latest in contemporary art from over 200 galleries and 31 countries. As expected, exhibitors brought out the best of the best, ranging from emotionally-driven wall paintings to eclectic sculptures, and even a car filled with mimes.

This being the 21st century, it was no surprise that art aficionados whipped out their phones and took to Instagram to document their most beloved pieces. Here are a few snaps of the four-day extravaganza that caught our attention:

Athena Papadopoulos is one of the @NYTimes Seven Young Artists Not to Miss at Frieze “Hairspray, lipstick and nail polish are just some of the unusual ingredients that make up the London-based artist Athena Papadopoulus’s solo installation for Supportico Lopez. Located somewhere between the impossibly beautiful and the grotesque, Papadopoulus’s paintings and sculptures take high-low aesthetics to another dimension. Her booth radiates a candy-apple red, but upon closer inspection, monsters emerge. A pair of stuffed legs stacked on the floor look like they could be a collaboration between Barbie and Robert Gober.” Papadopoulos is presented by @SupporticoLopez in the #Focus section. The New York Times also name Marina Pinsky (@clearing), Avery Singer (Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler), Cooper Jacoby (Matthew), Devin Farrand (@IbidGallery), Valerie Keane (@highartgallery) and Neil Beloufa (@mendeswooddm) as their other key younger artists found at the fair this year. Frieze New York is open until 7pm tonight. Tickets are sold out for today but are still available tomorrow.
