And the Winner Is. . .: London Design Museum’s Design of the Year Award
Since the Design Museum in London introduced the Design of the Year Award, it has gone to contenders as different as the Barack Obama poster by Shepard Fairey and an energy-saving fluorescent lightbulb. A wireless speaker by Fuseproject for Jawbone and the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen are among the 88 nominees in 2012’s seven categories: architecture, furniture, product, fashion, transport, graphics, digital. Finalists, one per category, and the overall winner will be revealed April 24 at the current location of the museum. It’s planning a move to a 1962 RMJM building being renovated by Interior Design Hall of Fame member John Pawson and OMA.
