in the Kitchen/Appliances category. The Bodenkirchen, Germany-based manufacturer has scored five previous Good Design Awards, including one in the Kitchen and Bath segment when its b3 series first launched in 2004.

The awards, organized annually since 1950 by the

Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design

in cooperation with

The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies

, recognize product innovation in a total of 26 categories, ranging from Robotics/Bionics to Textiles to Building Products/Materials.

B3 trumps standard drawer-organization systems with its moveable stainless-steel and solid-wood components, which fit into V-shaped grooves in drawer inserts. Partitions in the drawers slide horizontally to accommodate varying lengths of kitchen tools and drawer widths.
