In most restaurants, a seat at the bar is one of the most coveted—offering diners a moment to unwind without pretension, sometimes for hours on end. But barstools are hardly considered bastions of ergonomics and comfort. That is until a legacy brand with decades of experience creating workplace solutions took on the task.

Leading contract manufacturer Davis Furniture, teamed up with the German design duo jehs+laub to create innovative iterations of a beloved classic, the Sachet Chair, expanding its reach even further within the hospitality and corporate realms. These additions include an armless version and a coordinating barstool, which mirror the modern details, engineered comfort, and sleek shape of their namesake. The new forms reflect countless hours of research conducted by jehs+laub in collaboration with Davis Furniture, ensuring each piece delivers the unrivaled versatility of the original Sachet Chair—a piece lauded by designers for application and aesthetic since its introduction in 2017.

With angular forms and finely tailored details, the Sachet Collection can easily be dressed up or down through a vast range of upholstery and base options, making the chair an ideal fit for environments ranging from open offices to fine dining. Each chair and barstool in the collection features an innovative seat suspension system, ensuring the utmost comfort and seamless upholstery details, such as a welt that traces the edge of each piece. A classic stitch detail centered in the back also draws the eye while enhancing the tailor-made upholstery.

“Sachet maintains a stunning simplicity with a modern edge. It’s one of those classic seating collections where it blends into whatever space it’s placed within. These new additions add even more versatility and flexibility to this collection,” note Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub. While the new addition brings a low-back armless chair to the series, the classic Sachet Arm Chair remains available in low, mid and high-back options.

The updated Sachet Collection reflects the infinite possibilities that can stem from one great idea—offering designers even more diversity in aesthetics for workplace and hospitality spaces. As Davis Furniture continues to push its creative limits with the Sachet Collection and beyond, bringing new ideas to the fore and revisiting old ones, designers have the freedom to do the same, viewing every chair as a means of elevating a carefully curated interior.
