Fabergé Hides Giant Eggs in NYC
Starting April 1, Fabergé is welcoming the spring season in a huge way: The Big Egg Hunt will hide 260 massive egg sculptures (each roughly 2.5 feet tall) throughout the five boroughs of New York. Each piece is a unique work by the likes of Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Zaha Hadid, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Martha Stewart. New Yorkers and tourists alike are invited to hunt down the eggs and check-in via a smartphone app that will reveal the locations to other users as well.
Come April 18th, the eggs will be collected and displayed all together for one week in Rockefeller Center, followed by an auction at Sotheby’s to sell the pieces. Mini replicas and other merchandise will also be available at pop-up egg huts as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. All proceeds will go to Studio in a School, an organization that brings arts programs to public schools, and Elephant Family, an organization working to save the Asian elephant.
