Mega-Milestones: Inside Interior Design’s September 2026 Issue
“I guess it’s true that time flies when you’re having fun!” says Interior Design Editor-in-Chief Cindy Allen in her Editor’s Welcome for the September issue. “Yes, it has been 25 years of putting other talented people’s work on these sacred pages, and even though we’re celebrating the entire industry’s significant anniversaries this time around, somewhere along the way, and without my quite noticing, this issue became a lot about me instead,” she continues. Of course, Interior Design wouldn’t be the magazine it is today without Allen’s leadership, warmth, and eye for stellar design—and our latest issue rightfully reflects that.
In honor of Allen’s milestone, we’re looking back at the people, projects, and ideas that have shaped the design world over the years, from influential creatives and enduring icons to landmark exhibitions and celebrated firms. Consider it a trip down memory lane, with plenty of reasons to celebrate where design has been—and where it’s headed next.
