Facades Inspire Elena Manferdini’s Art Show at DTLA’s Second Industry Gallery

Architect, industrial designer, engineer, professor. Elena Manferdini is all of these. Plus one more: exhibiting artist. The second outpost of Industry Gallery, in downtown Los Angeles, is presenting her work in “Building Portraits,” on view through March 26. Composing about a third of the show, portraits inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe buildings are digitally printed on powder-coated aluminum. The remaining works are digitally printed on watercolor paper. Some are fictional facades, such as Shapes and Ground–I. Others are studies for actual Atelier Manferdini projects, including a parking garage in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
