Forms+Surfaces Acquires Joel Berman Glass Studios
Forms+Surfaces, the Pennsylvania-based building products manufacturer, gets a touch of glass with the acquisition of the legendary Joel Berman Glass Studios. The new subsidiary, BermanGlass, will debut a new line of three dimensional glass to celebrate the partnership.
“Joel and I share a passion for fine craftsmanship and pushing the boundaries of design,” says Jeffery Stork, president and CEO of Forms+Surfaces. “With our complementary products and manufacturing capabilities, the possibilities are virtually limitless.”
BermanGlass will remain in British Columbia, where Joel Berman founded his studio in 1981 went on to develop his signature sculptural glass, which has repeated won Interior Design Best of Year and HIP awards. As BermanGlass, the tradition continues with products like Ellisse, a curvilinear transparent formed glass, and Enmesh Vision, for which metal is laminated into glass. All are designed for use in glass applications from walls and room dividers to architectural accents and even as art pieces.
Berman’s focus on texture and dimensionality compliments the F+S Surface Group’s other glass program, VividGlass, which focuses on laminated graphic and etched glass products, along with extensive programs of metal, quartz, and wood veneer surfaces and the systems which utilize them. Founded almost fifty years ago, the company has also recently expanded to offer site furniture, lighting, and other products designed for public spaces.
