Gensler Identifies 4 Modes of Working with WorkStyles for Tuohy
Gensler’s workplace research identifies four modes of working: focus, collaboration, learning, and socialization. But can one system support them all? That was the challenge the firm faced in developing WorkStyles, an eminently adaptable series for Tuohy. Teaming on the assignment was Baltimore senior associate Ehren Gaag and Washington design director Jay Koback, along with former Chicago designer Robert Mariduena (now director of product design at iDesk) and former New York associate David Fuehrer (now director of product at J+J Flooring Group). Intended for both private and open settings, the scaled-down storage units and work surfaces befit the increasingly paperless office. The emphasis is on integrated lounge seating that equally suits individual work, formal meetings, and casual brainstorming sessions. Handy walnut tables pull up to accommodate tablets or laptops. And straightforward bases of resin-coated steel support case goods and surfaces in FSC-certified woods, accented by privacy panels in back-painted glass.
