The industry lost an icon when designer Ettore Sottsass died in 2007, but his legacy lives on in this final project: the Sifang Collection wellness center in Nanjing, China.

HBA

has designed the interiors, which pay homage to Sottsass’s mastery of color and form.

Twenty guest rooms are included in the center, along with a full service spa, gym, pool, lounge and cigar bar, kids’ club, and retail environment.  “Bold shapes and colors,” says David T’Kint, partner, HBA, “are used to enhance the playful yet casually relaxed atmosphere.”

The

Sifang Collection

is located in a forest near Nanjing’s Foshou Lake, and includes an art museum designed by

Steven Holl

, a

Liu Jiakun

hotel,

Arata Isozaki

’s conference center, and twenty private residences.
