ICFF To Shift Show From Spring To Fall In 2027

Design month is upon us, and calendars are already overflowing. The abundance of activations, trade shows, pop-ups, and awards ceremonies (like the NYCxDesign Awards, presented by Interior Design, among others) can cause even the most methodical design buff a sense of FOMO.

In response, International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) brand directors Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat have announced a major shift. Beginning next year, ICFF will move from its longtime spring slot to November, with the next edition slated for November 7-9, 2027, at the Javits Center in Manhattan.

It’s a pivot for North America’s leading contemporary design fair, and signals a broader realignment within the global trade show circuit. As Hainaut and Pijoulat explain, their decision was based upon years of feedback from both exhibitors and partners alike grappling with an increasingly packed spring calendar.

“This was not a change for the sake of change, but a thoughtful decision shaped by years of listening,” the brand directors said in a joint statement.

The new timing aims to alleviate scheduling pressures while creating a more focused and productive environment for curators, interior designers, buyers and architects.

Crucially, the move positions ICFF alongside Boutique Design New York (BDNY), which takes place each November at the Javits Center. While running concurrently, both fairs will remain independently curated. This means partners and guests alike will enjoy complementary access to high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial sectors, a set-up mirroring the tangible market overlap in how designers and brands operate in a post-COVID landscape.

That overlap is already measurable. In 2025, ICFF drew more than 13,000 attendees, while upwards of 16,000 folks attending BDNY. Records show just 10 percent of an audience crossover between the two. For design aficionados, makers, and merchants, the new schedule will hopefully increase reach and visibility all-around—especially welcoming news for ICFF’s international exhibitors, who make up about half of the total exhibitors.

In the meantime, ICFF has announced a bevy of key activations including a preview event at BDNY this year on November 6; an ICFF lounge at BDNY with networking and programming November 8-9; and an ICFF Night Out at NYCxDESIGN in May, 2027.
