Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson Merge to Form Drake + Anderson
In a surprise move from two of the design industry’s most storied legacy firms, Interior Design Hall of Fame member Jamie Drake and award-winning designer Caleb Anderson revealed today that their respective design firms, Drake Design Associates and Caleb Anderson Design, will join forces to create Drake + Anderson. Drake, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003, has long been recognized as a forerunner in the undeniable renaissance of Mid-Century Modern and is celebrated for his particular use of color. Anderson, who actually began his career with Drake Design Associates, is celebrated for his fresh approach to traditionalism and his deep knowledge of the decorative arts, which he mixes passionately with modern elements.
Together, the designers look forward to playing off their unique strengths across a full range of bespoke interior design services including decorating, construction design, and management planning for global, high-end residential and commercial clients. Drake and Anderson will serve as co-principals of the new firm and its combined staff and will remain active in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the new business.
“Combining my firm with that of a rising star like Caleb excites me,” said Drake, in a statement released by the company. “He has the remarkable ability to harmoniously combine antiques and other timeless pieces with custom, more modern designs, for a fresh look that people want today. Bridging styles and periods is the future, and I know that compelling, new design will emerge from our dialogue.”
Anderson said, “Jamie is at the pinnacle of our profession, and the opportunity to partner with him is a tremendous honor. He has a brilliant ability to combine the most sophisticated luxury and refinement with a touch of the unexpected that is unlike anyone else. Our partnership is the perfect blend of styles and strengths and I am looking forward to this next very exciting chapter in our careers. We will undoubtedly bring something new and unique to our clients.”
Work from both legacy firms includes a significant landmark property in London; an 8,600-square-foot, full-floor apartment at One57, perched high above Central Park; a full floor at 56 Leonard Street, in the iconic Herzog & de Meuron, building due for completion in 2016; a 12,000-square-foot residence in Bridgehampton; an Upper East Side apartment remodel with extensive custom application; and a large apartment in the Baccarat residences.
