Bio : Kjetil Trædal Thorsen co-founded Snøhetta Architecture and Landscape, a collaboration of architects and landscape architects, in 1987. Projects from this first period are mainly competitions such as the third prize for Aker Aqua Leisure centre in Oslo, the second prize for Slemmestad master plan outside Oslo, but also the realization of the urban landscapes around Oslo Plaza Hotel were conducted during this period. He has been a driving partner and as board member and project director he has been a driving partner and as board member and project director he has been instrumental in defining and developing Snøhetta’s philosophy and architectural ambition. Many of the projects created by Snøhetta have been inspired or led by Kjetil and to fulfill projects abroad he became member of both the French Association of Architects and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in addition to his membership of NAL.
