M.C. Escher Experience Pops Up in Brooklyn
It’s been to Italy, Singapore, Spain, and Portugal. But on June 8, “Escher. The Exhibition & Experience” lands in Brooklyn, New York. Claiming to be the largest exhibition in the U.S. of Maurits Cornelis Escher, aka M. C., the Dutch graphic artist celebrated for his mathematically inspired drawings, mezzotints, and woodcuts, it presents over 200 works, 40 of which did not appear in the previous venues, such as the lithograph Balcony. Exhibition designer Corrado Anselmi Studio has divided up Industry City’s Building 6 into seven thematic sections, from tessellation to metamorphosis, and incorporated immersive photo booths and an infinity room, where visitors can see their reflection repeated on and on.
